At Shine Bright Dental, we always recommend you visit us for a thorough check-up and clean appointment prior to undergoing any form of whitening treatment. There are two reasons for this:
- We want to check for any active areas of decay on your teeth prior to whitening. Finding and treating any tooth decay beforehand will ensure the whitening treatment doesn’t exacerbate any areas of decay and cause pain.
- The whitening ingredients will work more effectively on professionally cleaned teeth than on teeth that have a build-up of tartar or calculus. By having a professional clean first, you’ll get the best whitening result.

Before you start your at-home teeth whitening treatment, you’ll have an appointment with one of our dentists. They’ll take impressions of your teeth and custom-fit the trays. We can do this after your regular check-up and clean or as a separate appointment. The trays will be ready one week later and we’ll see you again to check the fit and to explain how to use the whitening products at home.
This option is also great for our patients who would like to continue to keep their smile bright after in-chair whitening, or who would like to whiten their teeth at home on an ongoing basis.
